Morris/Sussex Top 10 for Jan. 13
Every Sunday throughout the 2018-19 season, The Morris-Sussex Hockey Report will rank the top ten teams in the area. Below are our rankings for Sunday, Jan. 6.
1- Delbarton (9-2-1)
Delbarton's first game in nearly three weeks ended in a disappointing 3-0 loss to rival Don Bosco, which means the Ironmen have swept the regular-season series between the two. 2- Pope John (9-3-3)
The Lions suffered a 3-1 loss to Gloucester Catholic at home, prior to earning a big 2-2 tie on the road against a strong St. Augustine team.
3- Randolph (13-1-1)
With its 3-1 win over Chatham on Friday evening, Randolph clinched at least a share of first place in the Mennen Division. It has a big test ahead of it on Monday though, as it takes on Madison at 8:30 p.m.. Randolph won the first meeting, 3-0 back in December.
4- Madison (9-3-3)
The Dodgers' win streak now stands at five, as it earned a 3-0 win over Chatham and a 10-0 win over Wall this week.
5- Morristown-Beard (4-6-2)
The Crimson have lost four in a row and have been outscored 29-6 in those games. Those games have come against top competition though, as the losses have come to Madison, Randolph, Portledge (NY), and St. Joseph of Metuchen. It will try to get back on track on Monday when it faces Morris Knolls at 6:30.
6- Vernon (10-4-2)
Vernon went down the Shore and earned a 6-6 tie against a quality Jackson Liberty squad on Friday, before earning a big Halvorsen win over Montville on Saturday. On Monday night, it will take on St. Peter's Prep in a big out-of-conference game.

9- Chatham (5-10-1)
Chatham has been hit hard by injuries and illness this season, but is slowly starting to get key players back in the lineup. It dropped both games this week to Madison and Randolph, but led, 1-0 going into the third period against Randolph before surrendering three unanswered goals.
