Haas Cup recap: Lane's 4 goals lift Mountain Lakes-Boonton, Lavoie leads Gill St. Bernard's to win

Brenen Lavoie recorded a hat trick to lift fourth seed Gill St. Bernard's to a 4-1 win over fifth seed West Morris in the first round of the Haas Cup at Mennen Arena.
Lavoie gave his team the lead late in the second period, before adding a power play tally early in the third to build a two-goal edge. Nathan Meola cut the deficit to 2-1 for West Morris with 4:25 to go, but Lavoie added an insurance goal with a shorthanded goal with 1:58 to go. Logan Mote sealed it with an empty-netter.
Alex Steinberg made 23 saves for Gill St. Bernard's, while Tyler Muszelik stopped 30 shots for West Morris.
Gill St. Bernard's advances to the semifinals, where it will take on the winner of top seed Park Regional and eight seed Parsippany Regional next Wednesday.
Mountain Lakes-Boonton 6, Newton-Lenape Valley 1
John Lane scored four goals to lift second seed Mountain Lakes-Boonton to a 6-1 win over seven seed Newton-Lenape Valley in the first round of the Haas Cup at Mennen Arena.
Andy Barrasso also scored for Mountain Lakes-Boonton, which outshot Newton-Lenape Valley 52-19. It will move on to next Wednesday's semifinal, where it will take on third seed Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown.
Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown 10, High Point-Wallkill Valley 0
Sean Pederson had two goals and two assists to propel third seed Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown to a 10-0 win over High Point-Wallkill Valley in the first round of the Haas Cup at Mennen Arena.
Nicholas Cioce scored twice and had an assist for Mount Olive, while Christian Hertzig also scored twice. Thomas Cioce added a goal and two assists. Ryan Twist, Liam Murphy, and Ethan Tillery each added goals in the win.
The win advances Mount Olive to next Wednesday's semifinal, where it will take on second seed Mountain Lakes-Boonton.
