Feb. 8 recap: Delbarton tops No. 1 CBA, Vernon rallies for tie with Gill St. Bernard's

DELBARTON 3, CHRISTIAN BROTHERS 2

Trip Pendy's power play goal with 1:48 left in the game propelled Delbarton to a 3-2 win over No. 1-ranked Christian Brothers at Jersey Shore Arena.


Nick Faccone put Delbarton ahead in the first period, before CBA's Patrick Reilly tied it up late in the second period. Kayetan Berezniak put Delbarton ahead early in the third, but Leighton Biesiadecki tied it for CBA with under four minutes to go.


Brett Cleaves made 22 saves for Delbarton, which improved to a perfect 2-0 in its first game in over two weeks, as well as its first Gordon Conference game of the year.


VERNON 3, GILL ST. BERNARD'S 3

Dylan Shea's power play goal with 2:07 left helped Vernon preserve a 3-3 tie with Gill St. Bernard's at Mennen Arena.


Shea scored twice, while Ayden Steinbach also scored for Vernon (4-1-2), which erased a two-goal deficit in the third period. It marked the second 3-3 tie between these teams this season. Ozzie Deluca turned aside 31 shots.


Matthew Bloomenthal scored twice and Christian Mote had a goal and an assist for Gill St. Bernard's (2-3-2).


GLOUCESTER CATHOLIC 3, POPE JOHN 2

Nathan Meola and Jake Stevens each scored for Pope John in a 3-2 loss to Gloucester Catholic at Hollydell Ice Arena.


Dylan Koski scored the go-ahead goal for Gloucester Catholic in the third period. Tyler Carter and Billy Sheridan also scored for Gloucester Catholic, which is ranked as the No. 2 team in the state by NJ.com.


Soren Torlucci made 30 saves for Pope John (1-2).


Girls: MORRISTOWN-BEARD 10, KENT PLACE 0

Alexa Degan tallied two goals and three assists to lift Morristown-Beard to a 10-0 win over Kent Place at RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House in Newark.


Jessica Sperling added two goals and an assist for Morristown-Beard (3-0). Leah Stecker chipped in with a goal and three assists, while Katie Ewig, Annabel Plante, and Keira Redmond each had a goal and an assist in the win.


Gracie Meyers made five saves to secure the shutout.
