Feb. 6 recap: Randolph tops Chatham, Morris Catholic earns 2nd win
RANDOLPH 5, CHATHAM 2
Joe Yutsus' 32-save performance was key for Randolph in a 5-2 win over Chatham at Mennen Arena.
Randolph (2-1-1) received goals from Jack Rueff, Zach Gallo, and Luke Spagnuolo in the first period, with Gallo and Spagnuolo's goals coming just 11 seconds apart late. Kory Kleinle scored for Chatham late in the first period, before Ryan Burke cut the deficit to just one late in the third period.
After a fairly even first two periods, Chatham (2-3) controlled play in the third period, but Yutsus' play preserved the lead for Randolph. Chatham out-shot Randolph, 34-21 in the game. Gallo and Ben Yurchuk each scored empty net goals late to put the game away.
Gallo finished with two goals while Yurchuk had a goal and two assists.
VERNON 4, PARK REGIONAL 2
Ayden Steinbach scored twice and had an assist to lift Vernon to a 4-2 win over Park Regional at Skylands Ice World.
Dylan Shea had a shorthanded goal and three assists for Vernon (4-1-1). Evan Steinbach had a goal and an assist, while Ozzie Deluca made 23 saves.
Stanley Gelman and Jason Cirillo each scored for Park Regional (1-5-1).
MORRIS CATHOLIC 6, HIGH POINT-WALLKILL VALLEY 2
Hayden McGuigan and Evan Lord each scored twice to give Morris Catholic its second win of the season, a 6-2 triumph over High Point-Wallkill Valley at Skylands Ice World.
Aldino Guadagnino had five assists for the Crusaders, which improved to 2-0 on the season. Nick Leyhan had a goal and an assist and Averee Acuna also scored. Hugh McGuigan dished out two assists.
Luca Carnemolla and Brandon Mudrick each scored for High Point-Wallkill Valley (3-3-1).
MOUNTAIN LAKES-BOONTON 3, MOUNT OLIVE-HOPATCONG-HACKETTSTOWN 1
Andy Barrasso, Cameron Egan, and Tyler Shaloub each scored to lift Mountain Lakes-Boonton to a 3-1 win over Mount Oilve-Hopatcong-Hackettstown at Mennen Arena.
Cullen Fagan stopped 19 of 20 shots for Mountain Lakes-Boonton (7-1), which is now a perfect 7-0 in Haas Division play.
KJS UNITED 2, NEWTON-LENAPE VALLEY 0
Dillon Fleksher and Connor O'Neill each scored for KJS United in a 2-0 win over Newton-Lenape Valley at Skylands Ice World.
Brett Lewis stopped all 15 shots he faced for KJS United (2-4-1), which picked up its second win in as many nights.
